Dutch gambling industry associations have warned the government of a drop in tax revenues following the rate hike.
Decrease in revenues
Trade organisation VNLOK has sent a joint letter to the government pointing out that tax revenues from the gambling sector have fallen by €43.5m in 2025 compared to the previous year.
The letter was also signed by a representative of VAN, as well as the state-owned operators Netherlands Lottery and Holland Casino. It notes that the tax increase has led to the closure of some casinos and an increase in the use of illegal gambling platforms.
