The Star Entertainment Group has announced the appointment of Dave Wimpey as chief operating officer (COO) and interim general manager of The Star Brisbane complex. The appointment will be effective upon regulatory approval.
Changes in the manual
Wimpey's appointment was part of a wider management restructuring across the company's network of integrated resorts. Previously, similar changes had been made to the group's Sydney operations.
The Company is seeking to stabilise the management of its key assets following a series of management reshuffles.
Legal challenges and investigations
In recent years, the group has faced serious corporate governance problems. Recently, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission initiated civil proceedings against former top managers of the company.
Two former top managers of Star Entertainment have been found guilty of breaching the Corporations Act. The judgement relates to the improper management of money laundering risks.
