The charity Junta de Beneficencia de Guayaquil filed a complaint on November 13 against operator Ecuabet, the general sponsor of Ecuador's soccer championship, reports «Primicias. The operator continues to operate with the license of Anjouan Island, which expired in May 2025, and now the company is not listed in the regulator's register.
The complaint alleges a scheme of 42 individuals and entities, including the Prosperar, Prosperar Salud and Culturarte funds. Thus, Prosperar Salud's revenue increased from $34 million in 2022 to $95 million in 2024.
The operator's representatives claimed that they make regular donations to foundations and operate as a non-profit entity for the sake of tax benefits. The Superintendencia de Competencia Económica antitrust office rejected these arguments and referred the case to the prosecutor's office.
