В Эфиопии приостановили лицензии 22 операторов на фоне расследования сокрытия выручки на $1,6 млрд
Регулятор Эфиопии (ELS) announced 4 декабря о приостановке действия лицензий 22 беттинг-операторов на основе данных от Национальной разведки (NISS). Расследование ведется по факту предполагаемого сокрытия операторами около $1,6 млрд выручки при помощи криптовалюты, хавала (неформальная система денежных переводов) и фальсификации платежных записей. В рамках дела в конце ноября было арестовано 24 человека, включая владельцев и менеджеров неназванных беттинг-операторов. NISS выявили, что для ухода от контроля часть операторов покинула зарегистрированные офисы и работала через зарубежные серверы. Редакция iGN приводит полный список приостановленных лицензий:
NISS также утверждают, что местные платежные агрегаторы помогали операторам скрывать от регулятора реальные объемы транзакций. По данным «Addis Standard», власти подозревают, что отмытые деньги шли на финансирование терроризма и контрабанды.
