New CEO of BC GAME — Who is he?
Three days after the announcement of the appointment of the new CEO of BC.Game, the industry is not so much discussing the company’s strategy as it is trying to understand who this person is.
In the press release, Kar Kheng Giam is described as an experienced and outstanding technology leader with over 30 years of international career.
However, prior to the media announcement, only a few credible publications could be found about him. For example, an article co-authored by him on the influence of arsenic on the leaching of brass and the financial report of Apollo Food Holding Berhad for 2008, a Malaysian company engaged in the production and sale of confectionery (where Giam is listed as the fifth largest investor).
For a top manager with a «30-year international career,» this seems, to put it mildly, unusual, considering that he was CEO for 17.5 years at the confectionery company Nabisco in the Asian region. This is a very large American company, and such roles usually leave a noticeable public footprint (interviews, industry comments, media mentions). Here — nothing.
The new CEO also has a LinkedIn profile. According to it, before BC GAME, he worked for five years at Coyote Bioscience, which has no relation to the iGaming industry at all.
Additionally, earlier experience indicates that Giam was a co-founder of two gaming studios, although neither of them is remembered for any notable releases.
His profile also mentions a social network for pet owners and a travel startup.
Giam had not been active on LinkedIn for over 3 years, until the day the announcement of his new appointment was published. On that day, he posted a job opening for Principal Customer Experience Specialist at BC GAME. An interesting choice as well.
Even considering LinkedIn, the main question remains open: if Kar Kheng Giam is indeed a top manager with a 30-year career, why is there almost no information available about him?
