Murder of Taiwanese Entrepreneur in Cambodia

In Cambodia (Sihanoukville) on the night of March 24, a group of three to four armed individuals attacked Taiwanese entrepreneur Lin Binwen, known by the nicknames ‘King of Gambling’ and ‘Eel’. He sustained 29 gunshot wounds and died in the hospital, reports the Taiwanese publication Liberty Times

Lin was wanted internationally as a suspect in the ’88 Club’ case, an elite private gambling club in Taiwan. The club operated an underground banking network through which approximately $680 million related to illegal online gambling was funneled. The messenger PGTalk was used for transfers within the network. Taiwanese authorities extradited the club leader Kuo Chien-min in 2023, and in May 2025, he was sentenced to nearly 12 years in prison. The case has become one of the largest police corruption scandals in Taiwan in recent years, with more than two dozen law enforcement officials facing disciplinary actions. The investigation is looking into the connection between the murder and investments in land-based casinos, money laundering, or financial disputes.
