WordPress has released official plugins for Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini and OpenAI integration
WordPress has developed three new plugins that make it easier to integrate OpenAI, Google Gemini or Anthropic Claude with the PHP AI Client SDK. The plugins provide support for text, images, function calls and web search.
PHP 7.4 or higher is required to use these plugins, and of course the API key for the AI model. WordPress 6.9 users will need to install the PHP AI client SDK for WordPress. In WordPress 7.0, which will be released in early April, the SDK will be integrated by default.
In the official documentation WordPress.org. for the PHP AI client is explained as follows:
«The AI PHP Client SDK... provides a common infrastructure that allows WordPress plugins and other PHP projects to quickly and flexibly integrate AI capabilities. ...it offers a single interface that works across all AI providers - from simple text generation to complex multi-modal operations, response streaming, and long-running tasks.».
Developers specify what AI capabilities they need, and users manage their vendor credentials in one place. These credentials then automatically work with all compatible plugins on their site.
